An alternative to using a firewire to download a Canon ZR recording to a PC, would be instead, use the Canon’s AV line, which can be used for output as well as input. Just connect a Startech capture device to the AV line using a female-to-female RCA connector. But of course, you can’t use the AV line for input and output at the same time.
